My name is Celia Spencer. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist with a B.A.S. degree from UAA. I was born and raised on a homestead just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska with my nine brothers and sisters. I served five years in the Marine Corps as a helicopter crew chief, where I met my husband of four years. We are happily settled among the Mat-Su community with our two Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs that occupy our hearts as children. Oral health education is my passion because it is the key to becoming truly proficient in self-care. I believe that confidence stems from a smile and I love helping my patients improve theirs’ with every visit!
I graduated this year from the University of Illinois Chicago with a degree in general dentistry. I previously had my own practice in India, which helped me to prepare for what lies ahead. I have been with Mat-Su Dental Center since July and am thoroughly enjoying the diversity of our office. I love living in Alaska and all of the hiking and outdoor opportunities here. In my spare time, when I am not hiking, I enjoy traveling, watching movies, and listening to music of all kinds.
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Navy family. After my dad’s military retirement, we moved to Alaska in 1978. I have been in love with Alaska ever since. I graduated from Wasilla High School and attended the University of Alaska Anchorage, graduating with a Dental Hygiene degree in 1997. I was blessed to do a little traveling before settling back in Alaska. I have held Dental Hygiene licenses in Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Tennessee. I am the mother of five wonderful sons who have blessed me with seven grandchildren. I hold to the values of treating our patients with respect and kindness, inviting them to participate by educating them and helping to guide them through the best home care choices. I love being a part of a team that helps our patients achieve good dentalhealth for a lifetime of smiles! I also enjoy helping our more fearful patients overcome that first stepwith gentle kindness and encouragement, giving them the sense of accomplishment they deserve! Ilove working with children. I have been a part of the Mat-Su Dental Center team since 2001.
Mat-Su Dental Center has been my work home since 2004. I started here at the front desk and through my commitment and diligence I am now the Clinic Director. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in business management and years of experience helping our patients. The best part of working at Mat-Su Dental Center is the diverse environment and the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. I enjoy jewelry making and many of the outdoor activities Alaska offers with my husband…especially fishing! As a proud born and raised Alaskan, I appreciate the abundant beauty and unique lifestyle Alaska has to offer.
